If you’re not from Alberta or somewhere with similar weather, you might not understand what Spring means to us. Spring in this province means that one day it’s warm and sunny, and the next it’s cold and snowy. You never know what it’s going to be like. For that reason, my warmer clothes are not getting stored away just yet. Speaking of warm clothes, I found this RL sweater at the Bay recently, and it was such a great deal that I couldn’t pass it up. The fact that I can still comfortably wear it, even though it’s now May, really isn’t the worst thing ever.
For the rest of the look, I added some of my new and old favourite accessories. This Bolo Necklace from Coutukitch is one of my recent favourites. The simplicity of it made it the perfect match for the loud pattern on this sweater. I also thought that this wooden Jord watch was the perfect touch for this laid back and outdoorsy look!

This past weekend we took a little trip out to the mountains. There’s still a bit of snow in some area’s, but that’s to be expected this time of year. For a day out in the mountains, I kept my look really casual. This Ten Tree long sleeve is one of my favourite new tops. If you’ve never heard of Ten Tree, They are a clothing company that plants ten trees for every article of clothing that is sold! Every item comes with a little metal token that contains a code that you can register online to find out where your ten trees are planted. Personally, I think that’s a really cool business model! For the rest of the look I wore my favourite blue jeans, and a plaid shirt. You really can’t go wrong with that!

Last weekend my friend Jaclynn and I went for a hike up Mt Baldy in Kananaskis. Hiking this time of year is nice because the temperature is still reasonably cool. There was still a fair amount of snow on the trail, but nothing we couldn’t handle. This hike is a pretty steady uphill climb, and the view at the top is definitely worth it!
I’m not much of a gym person, but I do recognize that I need some type of physical activity in my weekly routine. Hiking is a great way for me to get exercise and have fun at the same time! There is nothing more invigorating than trekking up a mountain while enjoying some breathtaking scenery! I feel very grateful to live in a city that is so close to the mountains.
For this hike, Jaclynn and I had the pleasure of testing out the Merrell Siren Sport Q2 mid hiking boots. These boots have a few awesome features including: the M Select DRY impermeable membrane, that seals out water and lets moisture escape. They also have Q FORM 2 dual-density midsole with heel-centering technology that provides gender-engineered alignment and comfort. I found these boots to be very comfortable, and they had really good grip, especially in the snowy areas of the trail.

Now that it’s spring time, I decided that a trip to Drumheller was in order. It’s the closest thing to the desert that we have in Alberta, so it makes a great backdrop for some of my outfits. It also gives Tyrell a chance to look around for Dino bones, and other cool things that can be found in the area… if you’re lucky.
This look consists of a few of my favourite items of clothing. This tank top is one of them. I love band tee’s, so naturally I was drawn to this one. It has some really cool mesh detailing at the top and I love that! I also wore a pair of my favourite distressed jeans, and some black ankle boots. I tried to keep the accessories really simple with a western belt, and some silver rings!

I don’t know if you can tell by this look, but i’m a big fan of earth tones. I know that spring is when you’re supposed to get into pastels and bright colours, but I just can’t do it. This kimono comes in some very bright and feminine colour ways, but I automatically opted for the brown one. I ordered it online, and at it was the last one left in this colour, so and I had to act fast. Needless to say, I do not regret this purchase for a second. I have a strong feeling that it will be a staple in my wardrobe for spring and summer!
I suppose it’s obvious that I went with a brown theme for this look. I added a variety of accessories in different shades of the colour. I don’t know if it was 100% intentional, but i’m happy with the outcome! Two of the accessories are new to my closet, and are quickly becoming favourites of mine. The first is this brown leather bag from Liz Alig. It has a bit of an Indiana Jones vibe to it, and naturally I love that. The other is the crescent shaped necklace by Shesso. It’s cool and unique, like all of her jewelry. It adds just the right amount of detail to this look!

I always hear people talk about fall and winter fashion being so great because they love layering. I agree with these sentiments, but I don’t think that it needs to end for the spring and summer months. Kimonos, scarves, and vests are great ways to add layers to any look during the warmer months of the year. Anything that is lightweight and somewhat breathable is a good option.
This kimono from Free People is the latest addition to my wardrobe, and i’m pretty obsessed with it. I love the different colours and patterns, as well as the fringe detailing along the bottom. Because it’s such a bold piece, I kept the accessories for this look relatively simple. This black floppy hat, and gold circle necklace by Shesso, are the perfect additions to this look!

I’m the type of person who finds an article of clothing that they like, and then proceeds to buy it in multiple colours. This cardigan is a prime example of that. I always talk about my cardigan obsession, but I’m surprisingly picky when it comes to them. Needless to say, this oversized cardigan from Urban Outfitters is one of my favourites. I have it in a few colours already.
It’s been warm enough lately, that I can get away with just wearing a cardigan. Not needing to wear a jacket is the best feeling! I also realize that a wool beanie is not very spring like. I’m still going to wear it until it gets really ridiculous though, because that’s how I roll haha!
