Now that 2016 has come to an end, I thought i’d do a quick roundup of some of my favourite looks from the past year. So here they are from January until now, enjoy!
Happy New Year everyone!
As much as I love getting out and doing winter activities, I equally love staying indoors and being cozy. There’s nothing more relaxing than cuddling up on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea. As for my winter style, I like to keep it as cozy as possible most of the time. Cardigans and wool hats are at the top of my list when it comes to getting dressed this time of year. This cardigan in particular is one of my favourites!
One of my favourite things about Christmas, aside from the food, is the decorations! Tyrell and I have been getting a real tree for the past few years now, and I always look forward to decorating it! That being said, the holiday season can be a very stressful time of year for a lot of people. It’s easy to get worn out by all the shopping and entertaining that’s involved. I work in retail and this time of year is especially stressful. Although i’m busy, I try to take a break every now and then to enjoy the festivities.
Because shopping can be so stressful this time of year, it’s nice to find a store like Marshall’s where you can one stop shop for everyone on your list! They’ve got an awesome assortment of cardigans and sweaters (like the one featured here) that are perfect for holiday hang outs! They also have a large variety of adorable Christmas decorations and housewares, including this lovely snowflake mug!

It’s been really cold in Calgary lately. Too cold to only wear this faux leather jacket, but that’s where layering comes in handy. Scarves have been a major necessity this past week, so i’ve had a chance to utilize my large collection. Scarves are one of my favourite accessories, and even more so in the winter. Not only are they awesome statement pieces, they are also great for keeping your neck and face warm. They are fashionable and functional, and it’s awesome! I picked up this scarf from Urban Outfitters a few months ago, and it’s been one of my favourite accessories ever since. The rest of the look is pretty simple, and made up of some of my favourite items for fall and winter. You can’t go wrong with a cozy long sleeve thermal, and a pair of distressed jeans!
Winter in Alberta can be really Gorgeous. After a fresh snowfall everything looks so sparkly and bright, it’s truly beautiful!
Winter also requires that I make a few adjustments to my wardrobe here and there. Things such as tights under a dress or a skirt become a bit of a necessity. It also goes without saying that you need a warm winter coat. This Shearling coat is something that I purchased last year, and I wasn’t really sure how much use I was going to get out of it. Recently I’ve been finding a lot of different outfits that it compliments really well. Pairing it with this corduroy skirt and band tee, is currently one of my favourite combinations! It’s always a pleasant surprise to find something that fits in so well with the rest of your wardrobe!
I’m currently on the hunt for a new dress that I love, and that will be suitable for the holiday season. Until then, i’ll be sharing some more causal fall/winter styles with everyone. This is one of my favourite looks at the moment!
I have a major obsession with cardigans, and i’m constantly adding to my collection. Most of what I already have consists of chunkier knits, so it’s nice to have some variety with textures. This recent addition fits in very nicely. I love the length, and the neutral tone. For the rest of the look I kept it really simple with a long black tank top, and a pair of black skinny jeans.
This time of year the shorter amount of daylight hours can be a little depressing. It’s a necessity to spend days off outdoors, At least for a few hours anyways. This past weekend we had some beautiful weather in Calgary, so we took a little trip out to Princess Island Park.
For this look I kept things simple and casual with a ribbed sweater and a pair of jeans. I don’t know if i’ve mentioned this before, but these jeans are insanely comfortable! Just Black is one of my favourite denim brands. I love the fact that they are made in the USA. The rest of this look consists of a few of my favourite items including, ankle boots and a hat. These have been staples in my wardrobe for a while now. Add a Agate necklace and my look is complete!
